NL Music Review: Talk By Falz, A Jam To Behold Or Just A Regular Vibe?

#1

One of Nigeria’s foremost lawyer, and human rights activist Femi Falana, is known for his prowess and bravery, right?

There is a saying that the apple do not fall far from the tree, this is true in the case of Folarin Falana AKA Falz as he has the same boldness and prowess of his father when it comes to expressing himself through music.

The ‘This is Nigeria‘ crooner is out again with another track, TALK. Talk addresses a lot of instabilities in Nigeria today.

Afrobeat King, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, would always remain in the hearts if Nigerians because of his boldness to call a spade a spade and not a shovel, especially when the military administration was at its peak, but Falz The Bahd Guy is gradually stealing the show with his genre of music that is fully loaded with deep meaningful lyrics.

His new single, Talk, talks about the irregularities happening in Nigeria today and its timeliness was well thought of as the 2019 elections approaches.

In the 4 minutes song, Falz analyzed how the present administration has failed in caring for the average man in Nigeria.

Falz’ new album, Moral Instruction, is set to drop on January 15th, the album is a socia-conscious record that addresses the critical happenings in Nigeria.

Ever since Falz dropped his latest song, Talk, the whole Internet have been TALKing about it:

One of Naijaloaded’ review master, Akham Papa had this to say:

What else do we want to classify this song with if not “greatness”.? In recent times, Falz has been showing us why he is the voice of the voiceless Nigerians which is exactly the legacy the legendary Fela laid down.

While some artistes boasts of being a Fela reincarnate by smoking weed, some boasts of it by wearing Fela’s kind of outfits but Falz who doesn’t even claim being Fela is the only own we find the Fela within him.

The song “Talk” reveals the state of our nation where everything is not working anymore. Illegalities, bad government, cyber crimes and many more has taken over. It is exactly what we are facing as a nation.

Please, give that nice work “the song of the year now now”!!! Excellence at its maximum peak!

And our creative sport blogger, Femi Hilekaan, also had his own point to make about the song:-

It takes a lot to be Falz these days. In a country where the influential ones prefer to stay mute to pressing issues in the country, Folarin Falana aka Falz prefers to speak out.

He doesn’t give a damn and he is going to say what’s on his mind. He did it in “This is Nigeria”. A song that beautifully summed up what our country Nigeria is all about in minutes. He put up a serious figure in the music video too.

But this time in “Talk” which was released days ago, Falz prefers to use a more sarcastic background, mimicking Fela’s infamous “talk-talk” antics where he tells the audience to repeat everything he says.

Falz takes a swipe at almost everything his way in “Talk”. From the lousy Nigeria-based Muslim Rights Concern group (MURIC), to the upcoming election this year, internet fraud and even the church, Falz says what his peers won’t dare say. It’s a song you really need to listen to and admire

I leave you with my favorite punchline from song:

“Three private jets

You say you buy am for church

But your congregation no dey follow fly am of course”

10/10

The video which was directed by Prodigeezy might rank so high on YouTube because of the animated way it was created.
